In The Presence Of Greatness

April 7, 2018

The car.

To most, 4 wheels that get you from A to B. Part of the daily grind that has lost all excitement and enthusiasm.

Routine has killed the car.

There is a small group of us who still appreciate the automobile. We gather in dimly lit parking lots to ogle over each other’s creations. We spend hours detailing, fixing and modifying our vehicles because there is an emotional connection that most don’t understand. There is, however, another group. A higher tier of car enthusiast that does all the same things as us.

There’s just a lot more money involved.

Spending the weekend in Vancouver I was able to get an idea for the culture that existed around supercars. It seems that buying a Lamborghini or Ferrari isn’t good enough. Modifying your supercar is one way of standing out in a place where there are more supercars per capita than any other city in the country.

And boy do they stand out.

Then you have this.

This is the Koenigsegg Agera RS1

One of 25 in existence, worth $1.9 million (US)

See, when you have one of these? Customization is futile. The chances of running into someone with the same car is very small.

However, there’s still a chance…
